Guarantee the quality of our malting barley varieties
Selecting varieties that match our customers’ expectations
Numerous micro-malts are carried out each year to assess the malting potential of the barley, with the aim of selecting high-quality varieties for malting. These small-scale malting tests ensure that the best varieties are chosen to produce malts with exceptional brewing qualities.
Micro-malting to test the brewing value of barley
Each year, we harvest barley from our 6,000 microplots around the world for use in our central laboratory in Nogent-sur-Seine (10). We then carry out about 500 micro-maltings using the varieties that stand out for their agricultural benefits. After analysing the samples, we only retain the varieties that will provide optimal results for the maltster and brewer.
Barley varieties to meet the needs of the sector’s various stakeholders
We offer malting barley varieties that are adapted to the agronomic constraints of our farming partners and the climatic conditions of their country. Other parameters are also taken into consideration. Barley varieties are selected to optimise our malting process and to ensure productivity gains with lower water and energy consumption. Finally, we ensure that the output can be processed to create high-quality brewing malt, to offer our customers a product with remarkable brewing qualities, contributing in turn to their excellence.
