Ensuring a supply of high-quality malting barley, both in terms of volume and quality, requires a detailed analysis of the impacts that climatic conditions can have on crop quality.

Climatic conditions play a major role in the cultivation of malting barley. Barley is actually a fragile and extremely sensitive cereal. Weather conditions can degrade its quality, even if the farmer follows the protocol and agronomic recommendations to the letter.

Ensuring quality at every stage of the cultivation protocol

One of the key tasks of the agronomy department is to monitor weather incidents as closely as possible (frost, high temperatures, rain, etc.) and to anticipate their agronomic impact on the crop (barley protein rate, grading, pregermination). We can also request additional quality analyses on receipt of the barley or during storage, to monitor the brewing properties of our barley and thus guarantee a high-quality malt for our customers.
